The Department of International Trade and Business was established in 1978, when Gangwon College was promoted to be an university, and began with a hundred students. As of today, we annually receive 87 students as freshmen and we have about 450 students on bachelor courses, plus 27 students in our graduate school with 21 foreign students.

Our department encompasses three main academic realms; International Economy and World Area Studies, International Trade, and International Business Management. With the goal of teaching not only theory but also practical knowledge, we put great emphasis on foreign languages. Accordingly, a selection of targeting programs are available, including the ‘Global Trade Experts incubating Program’ supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, overseas voluntary work as part of an ‘Understanding of Cooperative Development’ course aided by KOICA, field education sessions provided by the college, and long or short-term foreign exchange student programs which currently carried more than 50 students from abroad.

Furthermore, we encourage club activities to help students’ gain a better knowledge of our culture. The school also supports student employment by inviting special lecturers from various occupations and making university-industry collaboration programs.
